For stay in Switzerland up to 90 days, there is no requirement of visa for visitors from most of the countries including USA and EU nationals and only a passport is required in Switzerland. The passport must have validity for a period of six months beyond the intended period of stay in Switzerland.
Most of the personal effects can be carried to Switzerland including cigarettes and alcohol in limited quantity. While leaving, one can carry items worth $800 duty free and pay a four percent duty beyond that limit, provided one has stayed in Switzerland for at least 48 hours.
